The Board of Directors of North Central Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (NCTC) has approved the distribution of $1.3 million in capital credits to members who received service from the cooperative in 1991, 1992, and 1993.
As a member-owned cooperative, NCTC uses the revenue it receives from members to provide advanced telecommunications services and invest in future technology. Any margins not reinvested into the cooperative are allocated to members as capital credits. These funds are retained until the NCTC Board of Directors determines the cooperative is in a strong financial position to return them to its members.
NCTC provides members with access to some of the fastest internet speeds available. Through the leadership and long-term planning of the board of directors and management, NCTC is a 100% fiber network. This capital credit distribution marks the third time the cooperative has returned capital credits to members since completing the fiber build.
“One of the best things about being a cooperative is being able to give back to the people who own it,” said NCTC CEO Johnny McClanahan. “Our Board of Directors has always been committed to making decisions that keep NCTC strong for the future while also looking for opportunities to return value to our members. That’s one of the things that makes a cooperative different. When NCTC succeeds, our members share in that success. It is especially fitting to return capital credits to those who have helped build this cooperative over the years as we celebrate NCTC’s 75th anniversary.”
Checks will be mailed during the first week of August to eligible members who received service from NCTC in 1991, 1992, and 1993. Members can check whether they are eligible for a capital credit refund by visiting nctc.com.
