Job Description

Responsibilities will include processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely payments to vendors. Additionally, this role will help in the preparation of account reconciliations, assistance in annual budget and quarterly forecast process, assist, as needed, in the cash disbursement process, and assist with annual audit and year-end inventory procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify invoices for accuracy, appropriate approvals, and proper coding
  • Enter invoices into accounting system in a timely manner
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers)
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain organized records of all accounts payable transactions
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries and issues
  • Work with departments/technicians to maintain and control inventory of equipment
  • Approve purchase order requests
  • Provide general analysis support in various accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, project / cost accounting, general accounting
  • Assist in development and preparation of annual budget process
  • Assist in development and preparation of quarterly forecast process
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist in review of monthly financial statement results with department heads
  • Review and investigate daily cash batch transactions for unusual items
  • Maintain daily cash control sheets
  • Daily posting of bank drafts and recurring credit card payments received
  • Reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation
  • Assist with audits by external CPA firm, RUS Field Accountant and various regulatory agents and auditors
  • Assist with all accounting functions and projects as needed for Subsidiaries
  • Close work orders to plant
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Cost Study data collection
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting
  • Able to analyze and resolve problems systematically, organize information and generate solutions while recognizing the impact on stakeholders and the business

  • Strong Microsoft Application skills; highly skilled in use of Excel
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work a 40+ hour workweek. Additional time beyond the regular established workday may be required to complete special projects and meet appointed deadlines necessary for attaining Cooperative goals
  • Expected to resolve issues

Experience and Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Accounting required
  • 1-2 years of Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry is preferred

Able to communicate with co-workers, customers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner with a strong emphasis on customer focus.

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite skill
  • Advanced Excel user comfortable working with Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Sort and Filter functions, etc.

Equipment Used:

Skill in operating various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, fax, and telephone system.

Physical Requirements:

Physics Requirements: Sitting, Pulling, Turning, Bending Seeing: Must be able to read computer screen and other reports. Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with employees and business contacts.
